Baramulla youth drive sports, anti-drug campaign across district

BARAMULLA: Youth across Baramulla are actively participating in a district-wide campaign combining sports and anti-drug awareness, as the Department of Youth Services and Sports continues its Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions alongside the Nasha Mukt J&K 100 Days Campaign.

Officials said the twin initiative has gathered momentum across several zones of the district, engaging hundreds of students in sporting competitions and awareness programmes aimed at promoting a drug-free society.

In Chandanwari zone, Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions were organised under the banner of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, featuring chess and carrom events for Under-14 boys. Around 30 students participated in the competitions.

In Wagoora zone, the third day of the ongoing competitions was held at Higher Secondary School Kreeri, where 54 Under-14 boys participated in various events.

Meanwhile, Dangiwacha zone organised a large rally under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in which nearly 250 students took part, spreading awareness against drug abuse.

Similar activities were organised in Rohama zone, where rallies, speeches, poster-making competitions and interactive sessions were held. Students and teachers participated in the programmes, highlighting the importance of a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

In Uri zone, hundreds of students joined another anti-drug rally, pledging to work towards eliminating substance abuse from society.

Officials said the initiative of combining sports with awareness campaigns is helping channel the energy of young people towards constructive activities while strengthening the message against drug abuse.
