During the visit, Labroo reviewed the progress of fencing being installed along the sides of Old Zaina Kadal, Aali Kadal and New Zaina Kadal over the river Jhelum.

Officials informed him that the fencing work on all three bridges was at an advanced stage and nearing completion. The works are being carried out to improve pedestrian safety and prevent accidents in the densely populated old city areas.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agency to strictly adhere to quality standards and timelines and asked it to complete the works within a week. He stressed the need for precision, durability and coordinated execution.

Labroo also reviewed the ongoing road repair and upgradation works in the area, including at Bulbul Lanker, and instructed officials to speed up the work while ensuring minimum inconvenience to the public.

Reiterating that pedestrian safety remains a top priority, the Deputy Commissioner said all major works were being undertaken in a synchronized manner and would be completed at the earliest.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R&B Shabir Ahmad, Executive Engineer R&B Arif Hazari, Tehsildar South Sajad Rasool Shah and other officials.
