JKPCC leaders target Centre over US Policy, Statehood and economic issues

Ghou Manhasan (Marh): J&K PCC President Tariq Hameed Karra said that US President Donald Trump is dictating terms and imposing decisions that suit the US, as Prime Minister Modi is compromised due to the pressure arising from the Epstein files revelations and the Adani case.

Addressing a largely attended Congress rally at Ghou Manhasan in the Marh constituency, organised by former minister Shri Mula Ram, the JKPCC chief said that India had never succumbed to pressure from superpowers and had always followed an independent foreign policy right from the time of Pt. Nehru, in the interests of the nation. For the first time, he said, the US is imposing decisions against the interests of the country because the Prime Minister is under undue pressure.

Terming it a very serious attack on the sovereignty and dignity of the country, Karra questioned why Prime Minister Modi is silent and not responding to the questions being raised in this regard.

He said that the recent deal imposed by the US is anti-farmer and anti-people, and has put the economic interests of the countrymen at stake, as Indians have to bear the brunt of US taxes. All commodities, including LPG, petrol and diesel, have become costlier, he said, and more price hikes are likely to follow.

Referring to the political situation in J&K, the JKPCC chief said that the BJP-led Central Government is treating the people of Jammu and Kashmir as second-class citizens by depriving them of statehood. He said that decisions are being taken by the Centre and the nominated head despite an elected government being in place.

He said that the dual-control system is the root cause of the prevailing uncertainty and lack of accountability in the system.

Urging people to question the BJP for its failure to deliver despite receiving a huge mandate from the Jammu region by promising statehood and massive development, he said that the BJP’s 29 MLAs have been unable to speak a word about the restoration of statehood or secure adequate funds for flood devastation to provide relief to the affected people, especially farmers.

He said that the unemployed, daily wagers, and contractual and temporary employees are suffering due to the lack of an adequate financial package from the Centre for J&K to address their grievances and regularise their jobs.

He said that the Centre and the BJP cannot escape responsibility towards the youth, who are suffering because of unemployment and lack of opportunities.

Working President Raman Bhalla, former minister Mula Ram, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Th. Balbir Singh, Th. Hari Singh Chib, Th. Manmohan Singh, DCC President Neeraj Kundan, NSUI President Ajay Lakhotra, Ashok Bhagat, Rajinder Happy, Sudagar Singh, Kuldeep Sharma, Bhavishya Sudan, Vijyant Pathania, Ratan Lal Sharma, Ram Pal, Dr. Gopal Dass, Baldev Bhagat, Parveen Akhtar, Babu Khan and Jagdish Raj were prominently present.

Working President Shri Raman Bhalla said that the Modi government is pro-capitalist and that its policies are anti-farmer, anti-poor and anti-common people. He said that people have been burdened by unprecedented price rises, large-scale unemployment and joblessness.

He said that common people have suffered under the BJP regime, which has worked only for big corporate friends such as Adani, Ambani and a few others at the cost of ordinary citizens. The government, he alleged, has waived loans worth lakhs of crores of rupees for big corporates, while farmers are dying.

He urged common people and youth to rise against what he termed the wrong policies of the Modi government and to free the nation from the rule of the anti-farmer, anti-people BJP, besides safeguarding their land, jobs and natural resources in J&K.
