Legislators raise public issues during Zero Hour in Assembly

Jammu: Several members raised a wide range of public issues during Zero Hour in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday, seeking immediate intervention from the government.

Payare Lal Sharma demanded the release of pending MGNREGA wages and quicker forest clearances for road works under PMAY-G, while Sajjad Shaheen raised the issue of a tribal girl from Gool.

Showkat Hussain Ganie sought restoration of salaries of Khidmat Centre operators, saying around 1,200 families were affected, and Khurshied Ahmad urged permission for seasonal migration of nomadic cattle and extension of the Ladli Beti scheme.

Hasnain Masoodi and Peerzada Feroz Ahmed demanded waiver of KCC loans for farmers, while Shagun Parihar called for construction of the Sattar Bridge–Batpura road.

Rajeev Kumar raised the issue of striking medical staff, while Rafiq Ahmad Naik sought construction of a fruit mandi in Tral and expressed concern over frequent changes in school uniforms by private institutions.

Javaid Riyaz Bedar highlighted jurisdictional conflicts in development works after delimitation, while Javaid Ahmad Mirchal sought powers for Block Medical Officers to issue NOCs for welfare schemes.

Iftikhar Ahmad requested government intervention to bring back the body of a Rajouri resident who died in Kuwait. Choudhary Mohammad Akram demanded filling of the Executive Officer post in his municipal committee.

Sunil Bhardwaj sought an inquiry into damage to a volleyball court, while Ajaz Ahmad Jan demanded enhancement of wages for CAMPA workers.

Shafi Ahmad Wani called for completion of the JVC Hospital building and more blocks in Community Health Centres. Hilal Akbar Lone demanded installation of transformers and completion of lift irrigation schemes.

Salman Sagar said welfare schemes should be implemented in consultation with legislators, while Shakti Raj Parihar urged restoration of non-functional irrigation and flood control projects.

Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi sought a House committee visit to review the Jal Jeevan Mission in his constituency and demarcation of land for wetlands. Surjeet Singh Slathia demanded more funds and staff for water supply projects in Samba and release of deposits of SCARD Bank account holders.

Altaf Ahmad Wani sought construction of a mini-secretariat in Pahalgam and reopening of tourist destinations. Abdul Majid Bhat demanded compensation for orchardists in Qazigund.

Shamim Firdous called for separate school timing and transport for nursery and UKG students. Yudhvir Sethi sought compensation for flood-hit families and repair works at Degree College Sidra.

Narinder Singh Raina demanded extension of financial aid for families displaced from PoJK, while Arvind Gupta urged formulation of service rules for employees in medical colleges.

Choudhary Zafar Ali Khatana sought migration NOCs for Bakerwal and Gujjar communities. Mian Mehar Ali raised concerns over rehabilitation of families affected by the Zojila Tunnel project and restoration of Baba canal.

Tanvir Sadiq demanded issuance of domicile certificates within a week, while Rameshwar Singh sought higher salaries for NHM employees and filling of vacant teaching posts.

Mir Mohammad Fayaz demanded filling of vacant HoD posts in government institutions. Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami highlighted shortage of LPG cylinders and sought another chance for consumers to register.

Saif-ud-Din Bhat demanded filling of vacant engineering posts, while Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah urged action against officials responsible for low expenditure on development works.
