SRINAGAR: More than 18,000 candidates appeared in diploma examinations in nursing and allied healthcare disciplines conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Nursing Council in collaboration with the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir Paramedical Council on Saturday.
The examinations were held at 31 centres across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including 17 centres in Kashmir division covering 10 districts and Ladakh, and 14 centres in Jammu division.
According to officials, 8,720 candidates appeared in Kashmir division, 9,277 in Jammu division and 43 in Ladakh, taking the total number of candidates to 18,040.
A total of 33 papers across 15 streams were conducted during the examination.
Officials said a special examination centre was also established at Central Jail Srinagar for one candidate following a request from the jail authorities.
The authorities said the smooth conduct of the examinations reflected the councils’ commitment to maintaining academic standards and strengthening professional training in nursing and allied healthcare sectors.
