Jammu: The semifinal line-up of the ongoing J&K UT Men’s Hockey Championship was finalised on Day 4 after a series of high-intensity matches at KK Hakku Hockey Stadium, Jammu.
The championship, being held after a gap of three years since March 24, has witnessed participation from 17 teams across the Union Territory.
Addressing the gathering, Hockey J&K officials reiterated their commitment to reviving the sport in the region. General Secretary Dr. Taran Singh said sustained efforts are being made to rejuvenate hockey by reactivating clubs and engaging veteran players, with teams now showing improved performance at the national level.
Match Highlights
In the first match, Jammu North thrashed Anantnag 6-0 in a dominant display. Jotveer Singh opened the scoring early, while captain Kirandeep Singh added another. Rahul Anwar and Deepak scored two goals each to seal a comprehensive win.
In the second match, J&K Police registered a 7-0 victory over Baramulla. Karanjit opened the account, followed by goals from Navjot, Gagandeep and Arunpreet. Prabhjot struck twice, while Samandeep added the seventh goal late in the game.
The third match saw Kathua edge past Jammu West 4-3 in a closely contested encounter. Gurkirat scored twice for Kathua, while Suraj Jasrotia and Gourav Jasrotia added one each. For Jammu West, Jaswinder Singh and Prabhjot (two goals) kept the contest tight.
In the fourth match, Poonch defeated Jammu South in a tie-breaker after the match ended 3-3 in regulation time. The closely fought contest saw both teams exchange goals before Poonch held their nerve in the shootout.

The tournament is being conducted under the supervision of Tournament Director P.D. Singh, with several officials, former players and sports enthusiasts in attendance.
