Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with SSP Bandipora Aijaz Ahmad Zargar, on Wednesday chaired a meeting with key stakeholders to review the availability of essential commodities and services in the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner urged residents not to pay heed to rumours circulating on social media regarding alleged shortages of petrol, diesel, and LPG.

The district administration categorically clarified that there is no shortage of essential supplies in Bandipora. Officials informed that adequate stocks of fuel and cooking gas are available at all authorised outlets, ensuring uninterrupted services for the public.

In a media briefing held later, the DC warned that misinformation can trigger unnecessary panic and disrupt normal supply mechanisms. She advised citizens to avoid panic buying and rely only on verified information issued through official government channels.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment, she appealed to the public to remain calm and vigilant against unverified information, and to strictly follow official advisories.

The administration further informed that the availability of essential commodities is being closely monitored through designated control rooms staffed by senior officers. Supply chains, it said, are functioning smoothly, and there is no cause for concern.

Authorities also cautioned that spreading false information or rumours may invite legal action, urging citizens to act responsibly and cooperate in maintaining peace and normalcy in the district.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Director FCS&CA, Naseer Ahmad Baba (JKAS), LPG and fuel dealers, and representatives from various concerned departments.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also conducted field visits to several petrol pumps and LPG distribution centres across the district to assess ground-level availability. Interacting with dealers and members of the public, she was informed that sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are available at all outlets.

She directed officials and dealers to ensure uninterrupted supply, adhere to prescribed norms and rates, and once again urged the public to disregard rumours and rely solely on official information.
