New Delhi: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, on Friday signed the condolence book at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi to express solidarity and condolences over the demise of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei.
During the visit, Dr. Akhoon met the Ambassador of Iran to India, Dr. Mohammad Fathali, and conveyed condolences on behalf of the people of Ladakh, particularly Kargil. He described Ayatollah Khamenei as a towering figure of the Muslim world and paid tribute to his legacy.
In his message in the condolence book, Dr. Akhoon expressed deep sorrow over the leader’s passing and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.
Following the signing ceremony, Dr. Akhoon, accompanied by Member of Parliament from Ladakh Haji Hanifa Jan, also met the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, Dr. Abdul Majeed Hakim Elahi, and Cultural Counselor and Head of Iran Culture House in New Delhi, Dr. Faridoddin Faridasr.
They conveyed condolences and expressed solidarity with the people of Iran during the moment of grief, officials said.
