SRINAGAR: A drug de-addiction awareness program was conducted at Islamia College of Science & Commerce by Shifa Foundation in collaboration with 82 BN CRPF.
The programme was aimed at spreading awareness about substance abuse, the rehabilitation process, and highlighting the importance of leading a healthy and responsible life.
Speaking during the programme, Principal Prof. Tehmina Yousuf emphasised on the collaborative approach of all stakeholders to address the issue. While addressing the students, she encouraged them to come out of their stress and lead a healthy life by sharing their concerns or issues with the college’s faculty mentors. She ensured all support to the students for their purpose and well-being.
Experts from Shifa Foundation shared valuable insights regarding the psychological, medical and social aspects of substance abuse with the focus on the rehabilitation process.
Volunteers of NSS unit 3rd of the college performed an impressive and thought-provoking skit on the theme. The Skit covered all the aspects which included family role, parenting, peer pressure that may contribute to getting involved in substance abuse and the recovery through rehabilitation.
Students delivered an impressive speech wherein it was emphasized to replace substance with purpose, shame with support and numbness with belongingness for the substance abusers.
The programme concluded with the strong message of collective commitment to build a drug-free society.
A large gathering of students were present on the occasion along with the officers from the Battalion, faculty and non-teaching staff of the college.
