Budget 2026 a stark reminder of the NC govt’s failure to deliver: Sat Sharma

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP, Sat Sharma CA, said that the UT’s Budget 2026 has once again exposed the hollow governance and broken promises of the National Conference (NC) government, which came to power by misleading innocent voters with tall and unrealistic assurances during the Assembly elections.

“The budget, presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, lacks vision, originality, and commitment to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Sat Sharma CA, desctibed the budget lackluster, directionless, and nothing more than a recycled compilation of centrally sponsored schemes. He stated that instead of introducing new policies tailored to local needs, the NC government has simply repackaged existing central initiatives while taking credit for work done by others. This clearly reflects the absence of any independent roadmap for development and prosperity.

Sat Sharma, CA highlighted that the budget completely fails to honour the grand promises made by the NC in its election manifesto. During the Assembly polls, the party lured voters with populist slogans and pledges, but after forming the government, those promises seem to have vanished from the minds of NC’s elected representatives. The much-hyped promise of free electricity, which was a major poll plank, has been reduced to a token benefit covering barely very small population, leaving the majority feeling cheated and betrayed.

He further criticized the government’s decision to cut fuel rebates of ₹2 on high-speed diesel and ₹1 on petrol, along with a 5 percent hike in aviation fuel. These measures will directly impact the common man, inflate household expenses, and place additional financial pressure. Instead of providing relief, the NC government has chosen to burden the people further.

The budget has also failed to address the genuine concerns of youth, women, marginalized communities, and daily wagers. There are no concrete provisions for employment generation, women empowerment, or social security for vulnerable sections, exposing the government’s apathy and disconnect from ground realities.

Overall, the Budget 2026 stands as a stark reminder of the NC government’s failure to deliver on its promises. It reflects a governance model driven by deception during elections and indifference after assuming power, leaving the people of Jammu and Kashmir disillusioned and disappointed.
