Deputy CM, ministers extend greetings on Shab-i-Barat, call for peace and harmony

Jammu: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and several Ministers of the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday extended greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Shab-i-Barat, emphasising peace, communal harmony and collective welfare.

In his message, Surinder Choudhary said that Shab-i-Barat holds great religious and spiritual significance for Muslims as a night of prayers, forgiveness and reflection. He urged people to pray for peace, prosperity and overall well-being, adding that Jammu and Kashmir continues to reflect a strong tradition of unity, mutual understanding and coexistence.

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Sakeena Itoo described the sacred night as an occasion for seeking forgiveness, mercy and blessings from Almighty Allah. She said Shab-i-Barat encourages introspection and spiritual growth, and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity across Jammu and Kashmir.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma said the holy night is observed as a time for prayer, self-reflection and seeking divine guidance. He noted that Jammu and Kashmir’s long-standing culture of communal harmony and collective celebration of festivals strengthens social bonds and brotherhood.

Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana said Shab-i-Barat offers an opportunity for mercy, forgiveness and spiritual purification. He called upon people to pray for the welfare of the nation and urged all to uphold peace, tolerance and mutual harmony.

The messages collectively highlighted the importance of using the occasion to reinforce values of unity, compassion and coexistence for sustained peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
