Srinagar: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Wednesday flagged off a group of 26 students, accompanied by two teachers, from Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No. 3, Panthachowk, Srinagar, under its flagship Bharat Darshan Programme.
The flagging-off ceremony was held at the ITBP campus in the presence of Shri Ajay Nirmalkar, Commandant, 21st Battalion ITBP, and Shri Surender Kumar Bordia, Principal, KV No. 3 Panthachowk, along with senior ITBP officers. Two ITBP officials will also accompany the group during the tour.
The students, drawn from Srinagar and adjoining areas, will undertake a nine-day educational tour from January 22 to January 30, during which they will visit important national institutions and cultural landmarks, including the National Police Academy and the National Museum in Hyderabad and Delhi.
The Bharat Darshan Programme, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), aims to instil a sense of national consciousness among young students by exposing them to India’s rich cultural, historical, and institutional heritage. The programme seeks to promote patriotism, unity in diversity, and awareness about the country’s democratic institutions through immersive learning experiences.
Addressing the students, Commandant Ajay Nirmalkar congratulated them on being selected for the programme and urged them to make the most of the opportunity by learning from India’s diverse legacy and contributing positively to nation-building. Principal Surender Kumar Bordia expressed gratitude to the ITBP for providing what he described as a transformative experience, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in shaping informed and responsible future citizens.
The ITBP reaffirmed its commitment to youth-centric outreach programmes that strengthen national integration and build bridges of understanding among the country’s younger generation.
