Delegations call on LG Sinha, raise community welfare, development and education issues

Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday met several delegations at Raj Bhavan here, who apprised him of a range of issues concerning community welfare, regional development and education in Jammu and Kashmir.

A delegation of the District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC), Jammu, led by its President S. Ranjeet Singh Tohra, called on the Lieutenant Governor and highlighted issues related to the welfare and empowerment of the Sikh community. The delegation, comprising S. Ranvir Singh, S. Jagpal Singh, S. Gurmeet Singh, S. Karan Singh Bali and S. Avtar Singh, sought attention towards the preservation and development of important Sikh religious and historical sites, amendment of the Sikh Religious and Endowment Act, 1973, and promotion of the Punjabi language.

On the same day, a delegation of the Pir Panjal Tribal United Front, led by former MLC and senior BJP leader Adv. Murtaza Khan, also met the Lieutenant Governor and discussed matters pertaining to tribal communities, with a focus on their socio-economic development and welfare.

A public delegation from Kathua, led by Raghunandan Singh, Vice Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Kathua, called on the Lieutenant Governor and raised issues related to local development and public concerns in the district. Separately, a delegation headed by Bhushan Bral, Member, DDC Bhalwal Brahmana, also met the Lieutenant Governor to apprise him of issues concerning his constituency.

Later, representatives of Tejas Ek Pahal Foundation met the Lieutenant Governor and discussed their initiatives and concerns related to social welfare and community outreach.

In another meeting, Dr Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Jammu, called on the Lieutenant Governor and discussed matters related to distance education and strengthening educational outreach in the region.

The Lieutenant Governor patiently heard the delegations and assured them that the issues and demands raised would be examined sympathetically, with appropriate action taken in accordance with established norms to ensure inclusive development and welfare across Jammu and Kashmir.
