The Minister specifically sought early release of the second instalment under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana. He emphasised that timely financial support is crucial for the uninterrupted execution of ongoing projects and effective delivery of benefits to the farmers.

Emphasising the unique agro-climatic conditions, difficult terrain and recent weather-related challenges faced by Jammu & Kashmir, the Minister urged the Union Government to accord special consideration for the restoration of rural infrastructure and strengthening of farm-based livelihoods.

The Minister also discussed the recently concluded India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement and conveyed the concerns of apple growers of Jammu & Kashmir regarding its potential impact on domestic markets.

The Union Minister assured that the interests of local farmers would remain the foremost priority of the Government of India. He said that adequate safeguards would be ensured to protect the domestic horticulture, particularly the apple sector.

The Union Minister further assured that all the issues raised would be examined expeditiously for resolution. He reiterated the Government of India’s commitment in extending all necessary support for the continued development of agriculture, horticulture and rural sectors in Jammu & Kashmir.
