Power shutdown scheduled in Sgr and Gbl Areas

Srinagar: The Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across parts of Srinagar and Ganderbal districts to facilitate maintenance works on high-tension transmission lines.

According to KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33 kV Alasteng–Zakura and 33 kV Alasteng–Nagbal lines will be observed on January 14, 2026, resulting in the disruption of power supply to Pandach, Pathan Colony, Gulab Bagh, Mir Mohalla, Umarhair, Nowbugh, Ahmad Nagar, 90 Feet Road, Khalmullah Shuhama, Bakoora, Nagbal, Malshaibagh, Saloora, Gadoora, Fatehpora, Shairpathri, and adjoining areas. The shutdown will remain in effect from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Similarly, a shutdown of the 33 kV Kangan–Surfraw line is scheduled on January 14, 2026, affecting electricity supply to Gund, Gadribal, Kullan, Gagangeer, Sonamarg, Fraw, Ganiwan, and nearby areas from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.

In another instance, the 33 kV Wangath–Tap line will undergo shutdown on January 15 and 17, 2026, during which power supply to Babanagri, Wangath, Naranag, Kachnambal, and adjoining areas will remain affected between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm on both days.

KPDCL has advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements and has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused, stating that the shutdowns are essential for ensuring a reliable power supply in the long run.
