During the visit, the Commissioner reviewed the physical condition, operational status, and current utilisation of the assets under the ongoing asset mapping and monetisation programme. He assessed their scope for optimal, lawful, and transparent utilisation through policy-driven monetisation mechanisms aimed at strengthening the Corporation’s revenue base.

Highlighting the direct correlation between strong municipal finances and improved civic amenities, the Commissioner stated that sustainable revenue streams are fundamental to ensuring efficient sanitation services, upgraded urban infrastructure, and the timely delivery of essential civic facilities. He directed the concerned officers to prepare a comprehensive and updated inventory of all municipal assets, identify underutilised properties, and initiate time-bound measures for their effective monetisation strictly in accordance with existing rules and government policies.

The Commissioner further emphasised the importance of regular monitoring, planned maintenance, prevention of encroachments, and plugging revenue leakages as integral components of sound asset management.

Senior officers briefed him on the progress achieved under the asset mapping and monetisation drive, which is aimed at augmenting municipal revenues and strengthening citizen-centric civic services across Srinagar.
