Kargil: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today emphasised that the UT Administration remains firmly committed to ensuring equitable and inclusive development across Ladakh, with special focus on people residing in far-flung, remote and border areas.

He reiterated that development must not remain confined to urban centres but should reach the most difficult and inaccessible regions, so that every citizen of Ladakh benefits from progress and an improved quality of life.

The Lt Governor was addressing a public grievances redressal camp at Shakar-Chiktan, where he interacted with local residents and listened patiently to their issues, concerns and suggestions related to development and public welfare. Representatives of sixteen villages highlighted their issues related to the sub-division.

The Lt Governor underlined the importance of direct engagement between the administration and the public, stating that such interactions help in understanding ground realities and strengthening public trust. He assured the people that the grievances raised during the camp would be examined carefully and necessary directions would be issued to the concerned departments for timely redressal.

Kavinder Gupta stated that since Ladakh became a Union Territory in 2019, the pace of development has increased significantly across the region, with the UT Administration consistently advancing public welfare and development initiatives.

Recalling the contribution of the people of Kargil, especially those living in border areas, the Lt Governor said that they have always stood with the nation in challenging times and their sacrifice, courage and patriotism remain a source of inspiration.

Highlighting recent initiatives in the health sector, the Lt Governor said that yesterday he had inaugurated the state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI facility at District Hospital Kargil, which will significantly enhance advanced diagnostic services for the people of Kargil and surrounding areas.

The Lt Governor expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving top priority to the holistic development of Ladakh. He said that the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership has accelerated development in remote and difficult areas, ensuring that no citizen is deprived of progress due to geographical challenges.

The Lt Governor noted that sustained improvements in roads, healthcare, education, power supply, internet connectivity and administrative services are significantly enhancing the quality of life of the people of Ladakh. He further said that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, initiatives aimed at transparent governance, digital services, rural development, skill development and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions are being implemented at a rapid pace, reiterating that the development of border areas is essential for the overall development of the nation.

Emphasising the role of youth, the Lt Governor said that education, skill development and employment opportunities for young people remain a key priority, enabling them to contribute actively to Ladakh’s development while staying in their home region.

Assuring the people of Shakar Chiktan, the Lt Governor said that region-specific demands, including improved access to postal and banking services, enhancement of BSNL connectivity and strengthening of basic civic amenities, would be addressed on priority basis. He added that he personally reviews public grievance representations to ensure their prompt examination and speedy resolution.

The Lt Governor reaffirmed the commitment of the UT Administration to work with dedication, transparency and public cooperation to ensure holistic and sustainable development across Ladakh.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil Nitin Yadav, SDM Shakar-Chiktan Ravi Shanker, and senior district officers from key departments were present.
