Peerzada Farooq Shah chairs meeting of Committee on Petitions

JAMMU: A meeting of the Committee on Petitions was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLA Pirzada Farooq Shah to review the petitions referred to the Committee.

Legislators, Salman Sagar, Mushtaq Guroo and Vijay Kumar were also present in the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held on various issues related to widespread adulteration of essential food commodities within Jammu & Kashmir besides encroachment and illegal distribution of land in Khimber, Tehsil Hazratbal, Srinagar and action being taken by the concerned authorities as highlighted in the petition.

The Chairman highlighted the objectives of the Committee and sought cooperation from the concerned departments to discuss and resolve all pending issues through petitions lying before the Committee on a priority basis.

The concerned officers from the Food Safety and Revenue departments briefed the Committee about the present status and action taken by the authorities on the petition.

The Committee directed the concerned officers to take stringent action against those involved in adulteration in essential food commodities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Committee also sought a detailed report regarding various aspects of petitions for scrutiny by the Committee so that the required steps could be taken accordingly.

The Members of the Committee gave their valuable suggestions and stressed the resolution of the public interest issues transparently and effectively by the Committee.

Among others, ADC, Srinagar; ADC, Baramulla; SDM-E Srinagar; Joint Commissioner, Food Safety J&K, besides other senior officers and officials of concerned departments and the Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
