SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Kashmir got the Empowering Youth for Undertaking Value-Added Innovative Translational Research Centre (E-YUVA Centre) from the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, Government of India.
The proposal was submitted by SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Centre (SKIIE Centre), a few months before and after thorough screening and pitching round by the Chief Executive Officer/Head, the BIRAC Panel committee members sanctioned the E-YUVA Centre. SKUAST Kashmir becomes 3rd SAU across the nation to secure this centre for taking the mission to motivate and empower young minds for undertaking value-added Innovative Translational Research Centre.
The scheme provides funding support through fellowship and research grants, technical and business mentoring, exposure to bio-incubation model, orientation to entrepreneurial culture, etc., to students at various levels, including undergraduates, post-graduates and post-doctoral.
The Innovation Fellowship proposals can be submitted in any domain, including Agriculture, Secondary agriculture, Waste Management, Sanitation, Clean Energy, Healthcare, Life sciences, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Drugs, Vaccines, Drug Formulations and delivery systems, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, and Artificial Intelligence/IoT/ Automation with application in any of these areas.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai congratulated the team of SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship centre and associated faculty members for a commendable achievement to take the SKUAST-K Innovational legacy to next level by establishing E-YUVA Centre. He stated that this is more of a new responsibility for all than an achievement so as to deliver and fulfil all the objectives of the programme in consultation with BIRAC GoI.
Prof Ganai said that this centre will take our mission forward in translating the commercially viable research and supporting the young minds across Jammu and Kashmir to pave the way to be a key stakeholder in Viksit J&K.
In a statement, the Principal Investigator and CEO SKIIE Centre stated that this E-YUVA Centre will provide an opportunity to thousands of researchers, scholars to translate their innovative research ideas into viable business opportunities to earn while learn and will bring a positive and effective change in the start-up ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
