LEH: The Judicial Inquiry Commission today reiterated its commitment to safeguarding witnesses and complainants, urging people to come forward freely to assist the ongoing inquiry.
Addressing a press briefing at the Civil Secretariat, Joint Secretary to the Commission, Rigzin Spalgon, appealed to individuals to voluntarily submit their statements without fear. He emphasized that any attempt—by government officials, private individuals, or members of organisations—to intimidate, threaten, or harass someone to prevent them from providing information would invite strict legal action.
Spalgon further underlined that witnesses or complainants facing pressure or harassment have the right to file a formal grievance directly with the Commission.
Reassuring the public, he said all complaints will be handled with complete confidentiality and addressed promptly in accordance with legal provisions, ensuring full protection for those assisting the inquiry.
