JAMMU: Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, today convened a virtual meeting to review the working of District Project Management Units (DPMUs) across the UT.
The meeting was attended by the Technical Advisor for Kashmir and Jammu, along with the Technical Officers and I/C DPMUs.
The review focused on strengthening implementation mechanisms, monitoring progress of key JJM deliverables and streamlining coordination between the district and the Directorate for the timely execution of water supply schemes.
All districts were directed to ensure immediate uploading of updated Minutes of District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meetings on the designated portal. Timely documentation was emphasized as essential for compliance and transparency.
A detailed review of the onboarding process of the JJM 2.0 Dashboard was undertaken. District teams presented the current status of data migration, reporting formats and real-time entries. The Mission Director stressed that complete onboarding will significantly enhance monitoring accuracy and accountability.
Districts shared updates regarding geo-tagging of functional and under-construction assets. The Mission Director instructed all DPMUs to complete pending geo-tagging activities at the earliest to support field verification and improve asset traceability.
Amendment-related procedures were discussed and DPMUs were advised to strictly adhere to guidelines while seeking modifications in project components. Uniform compliance across districts was underscored as a priority.
The status of Information, Education & Communication (IEC) initiatives was reviewed. Districts were encouraged to intensify awareness campaigns on water quality, safe drinking practices, community participation and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) responsibilities under JJM.
Strengthening coordination with Deputy Commissioners (Chairman District Water & Sanitation Mission) was emphasized, especially for resolving administrative issues, accelerating the tendering and execution process, and ensuring inter-departmental support at the district level.
All DPMUs were directed to adhere to timelines, strengthen monitoring mechanisms and maintain close coordination with the Mission Directorate to ensure quality execution on the ground.
The review meeting concluded with the Mission Director reiterating the Government’s commitment to ensure universal, safe and sustainable drinking water supply to all rural households of Jammu & Kashmir in alignment with the objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
