SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, today kick-started started sale of onion seedlings at Kitchen Garden Lalmandi, Srinagar.
During interaction with the farmers and kitchen garden lovers Director of Agriculture said that the Department is vigorously enduring to attract more and more farmers and kitchen garden lovers towards the vegetable sector.
He further said that the department is producing seedlings of different vegetable crops in hi-tech poly houses under controlled conditions in all the districts of Kashmir division, and the seedlings would be distributed among the farming community of the region in a phased manner so that the produce reaches the market in a way where it could fetch the farmer maximum possible returns.
He expressed satisfaction and said that the Department has already met the target of providing seedlings of different vegetable crops to the farming community of the region.
Highlighting the ongoing Rabi season activities, the Director said the department is working to bring maximum area under cultivation of different crops, while also linking agricultural produce with the market chain through a well-devised strategy to safeguard farmers’ interests.
“The Department is committed to producing and providing quality vegetable seedlings, as quality planting material plays a pivotal role in the overall success of agricultural enterprises,” he added.
On the occasion, Joint Director agriculture extension kashmir, seed production officer kashmir and some senior officers of the department were also present.
