Srinagar: Police on Monday said they have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a huge consignment of narcotic substance from his possession in Anantnag district.
A police spokesperson informed that, acting on “credible information from reliable sources”, police raided the residence of Riyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir, at Katriteng, Bijbehara, and recovered a huge quantity of cannabis leaves mixed with seeds and covers (approximately 25.200 kg) from it. The accused Riyaz Ahmad Mir has been arrested and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify other individuals involved in the drug trade, police said.
