J&K UT Soft Tennis Championship 2025 commences at Gindun Stadium

Over 400 players from across Union Territory participating

Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir UT Soft Tennis Championship 2025 began with great enthusiasm at Gindun Stadium in Rajbagh, Srinagar, on Sunday.

Organized by the J&K Soft Tennis Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, the championship has attracted more than 400 players from districts across the Union Territory, showcasing emerging talent and a growing passion for the sport.

The opening ceremony was graced by Hon’ble MLA of Eidgah and former Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, Jb. Mubarak Gul, who attended as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Guest of Honour Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani, Chairman of the J&K Soft Tennis Association; Shakir Ashraf, General Secretary of the Association; and other distinguished sports officials from across Jammu & Kashmir.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest applauded the organizers and encouraged youth to actively participate in sports, stressing its vital role in personal development and community building. Chairman Raja Ghulam Nabi Wani reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the foundation of soft tennis in the region and supporting young athletes through structured training.

Echoing these sentiments, General Secretary Shakir Ashraf reiterated the Association’s vision for the holistic growth of the sport and commended the athletes for their dedication and sportsmanship.

The championship, which includes matches across multiple categories and age groups, will continue over the coming days at Gindun Stadium.
