Gulmarg: MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah, attended the World Tourism Day celebrations at Gulmarg as the Chief Guest.
The event witnessed vibrant cultural performances where artists showcased their talent and enthralled the audience.
In his address, Shah reiterated that tourism forms the backbone of Kashmir’s economy and called upon all stakeholders to work collectively for its promotion and preservation. He underlined the significance of safeguarding Gulmarg’s pristine natural beauty and announced that 50,000 saplings will be planted across the constituency to make it greener and more sustainable.
The day-long celebrations saw enthusiastic participation from tourists, locals, and students. A golf tournament, plantation drive, and painting competition were among the highlights of the event.
The MLA commended the Tourism Department and the local administration for organising such meaningful activities that reflect Kashmir’s rich culture, natural charm, and traditional hospitality.
The celebrations were also attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Gulmarg Development Authority, the Assistant Director of Tourism, Gulmarg, along with other senior officers.
