CRPF Women’s High-Altitude Bike Expedition flagged off from Srinagar to Ladakh

Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), GP Singh Tuesday, flagged off the 3rd edition of the Yashasvini High-Altitude Women’s Bike Expedition 2025 from Srinagar’s historic Lal Chowk. The expedition will see an all-women CRPF team cover nearly 1,400 km from Lal Chowk to Pangong Tso and back, crossing Khardung La at an altitude of 18,000 feet. PHOTO: FAROOQ JAVED

Srinagar: The third Women’s Bike Expedition of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was flagged off today at Lal Chowk, Srinagar.

A total of 33 women bikers, riding Royal Enfield 350cc motorcycles, are set to embark on a seven-day, high-altitude journey to Pangong Tso in Ladakh and back, covering nearly 1,400 kilometers.

The event was flagged off by CRPF Director General G P Singh in the presence of Dr. Anamika Singh, President of CRPF Family Welfare Association (CWA), along with senior officers of the CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army, and civil administration. Among those present were ADG (Training) Deepak Kumar, SDG (Coordination) SJM Gilani, ADG JK Zone Rajesh Kumar, Regional President CWA Sundari Yadav, IGP Kashmir Zone Vidhi Kumar Virdi, IG Kashmir Ops Sector Vineet Brij Lal, IG Srinagar Sector Pawan Kumar Sharma, GoC 31 Sub Area Maj. Gen. Abhijeet Mitra, DIG P R Jambholkar, DIG P K Singh, DIG Rajiv Pandey, and SSP Srinagar G V Sundeep.

The program also featured cultural performances, including a Taekwondo demonstration and Rouf, a traditional Kashmiri folk dance, by students from Tyndale Biscoe School, Biglobe Sanstha Bemina, and Chhatabal Mansa Taekwondo Club. Eleven families of CRPF martyrs were felicitated during the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the CRPF Director General said, “This high-altitude mission reflects CRPF’s contribution to India’s internal security over the past sixty-six years. Flagging it off from Kashmir’s historic Lal Chowk fills me with immense happiness, pride, and honour.” He described the expedition as a symbol of patriotism, resilience, and women empowerment, adding that it reinforces the force’s commitment to adventure and nation-building.

The expedition is being led by senior CRPF officers including DIG Balabh Sharma, Brigadier SP Rai, and DIG D.K. Singh. The riders will traverse Srinagar–Leh–Khardungla–Pangong Tso before returning, braving one of the toughest terrains in the Himalayas.
