JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, today, chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Government Polytechnic here to assess the progress of academic, infrastructural, and administrative initiatives at Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs across the Jammu division.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Skill Development department (SDD), Kumar Rajeev Ranjan; Director Skill Development, Special Secretary SDD, Mission Director Skill Development Mission, Secretary J&K Board of Technical Education, Principal of Government Polytechnics & ITIs of Jammu Division and other concerned officers.
The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the ongoing development projects, academic performance, and implementation of various government schemes aimed at improving skill development and technical education institutions across the Jammu division..
Speaking during the meeting, the Deputy CM emphasised on the government’s commitment to strengthening technical education in J&K.
He maintained that Skill Development institutions play a vital role in preparing our youth for industry-ready careers. It should be our priority to ensure that they are equipped with the latest infrastructure and training modules to meet modern industry demands, he said.
The Deputy CM also took stock of the implementation status of centrally sponsored schemes like Mission YUVA and PMKVY, and directed concerned officials to expedite pending works related to infrastructure, digital classrooms, and hostel facilities across these institutions.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Polytechnic College Jammu in fostering innovation and skill development among students.
During the meeting, Principal, Government Polytechnic Jammu, gave a detailed presentation highlighting the institute’s achievements, new initiatives, placement activities and future plans. He also outlined challenges related to staff shortages and infrastructure that require immediate attention.
Later, the Deputy CM also held an interaction with faculty and students of the Government Polytechnic College, Jammu. He assured full support from the government to resolve key issues and elevate the institution to new heights of excellence.
