Ramzan to begin on March 2 across J&K: Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam

Srinagar: Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Friday said that the crescent moon was not sighted Friday, and that the first day of Ramzan will be on Sunday, March 2.

In a statement issued here tonight, Mufti said that no witnesses or evidence was received from anywhere about the sighting of the Ramzan moon today.

“Therefore, the first day of fasting will be on Sunday,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has extended greetings to the people on the arrival of the blessed month of Ramzan.

In a statement here, Mirwaiz emphasized that Ramzan is a sacred opportunity to draw closer to the Almighty through fasting, prayer, reflection, and engagement with the teachings of the Holy Quran.

Mirwaiz highlighted the spiritual essence of this month, urging the faithful to embody patience, humility, and generosity. He encouraged increased devotion to prayer, a deeper connection with the Quran, and acts of compassion and charity towards those in need.

He prayed for Ramadan to bring peace, joy, and spiritual growth to all.
