Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Sopore, Budgam and Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession, an official handout informed Friday.
It said Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, and Hilal Ahmad Ganie, son of Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, both residents of Dangerpora Sopore, were arrested after 140 grams of contraband cannabis-like substance was recovered from their possession.
At Audoora in Handwara, one Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh, son of Habibullah Beigh of Jahama Qalamabad, was arrested and 26 grams of cannabis-like substances recovered from his possession.
In Budgam, near village Kawoosa, semi-grinded cannabis-like substance weighing about 2.997 kilograms was recovered from the possession of Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh, son of late Abdul Jabbar Sheikh of Jawaharpora Narbal Magam. Shiekh was also arrested.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigations, police said.
