Dr Jatinder Singh, Javed Rana inaugurate 7 WWSs in Kathua

KATHUA,: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, and Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh, today inaugurated 7 Water Supply Schemes (WSS) in Jasrota, Kathua.

Legislators, Rajiv Jasrotia and Vijay Kumar along with other officers from the Jal Shakti Department were also present on the occasion.

The WSSs have been completed by the Jal Shakti Department with an amount of ₹ 25 crore under JJM which will provide potable drinking water to thousands of souls.

While e-inaugurating the projects, Rana said that the schemes will cover a dozen villages, benefitting 15881 souls covering 2584 households. He said that the aim of the scheme is to enhance the rural drinking water infrastructure for the general public. He further said that the scheme will provide more than 2500 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC).

Under these schemes, four tube wells, two bore wells and four overhead tanks have been constructed to provide potable water as per JJM guidelines.

Rana said that the Omar Abdullah-led government is giving primacy to people’s needs and that people should not face any difficulty.

Maintaining that the government was steadfast and committed to completing all the projects in close coordination and consultation with local representatives, Rana praised local legislator, Rajiv Jasrotia, for effectively following the completion of the schemes.

The Minister further informed that a total of 303 water supply schemes, with an estimated cost of Rs 1369.57 crore, are being taken up in district Kathua under Jal Jeevan Mission.

He asked the officials to strictly adhere to set timelines and also fast-track the land acquisition and forest clearance on a priority basis so that developmental works continue unhindered.
