Ensure hassle-free arrangements for Hajj-2018: Div Com to all DDCs

SRINAGAR, JUNE 25: In order to ensure smooth arrangements for Hajj-2018, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed all District Development Commissioners (DDCs) of Kashmir Division to ensure hassle free arrangements for the Hajj pilgrims in their respective districts.

While chairing a high-level meeting of officers to review the arrangements for Hajj 2018, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of district wise preparations and arrangements for Hajj pilgrims from each DDC of Kashmir Division through video-conferencing.

The meeting was informed that 8414 Hajj Pilgrims from the valley and 125 from Kargil and Leh will be going for Hajj Pilgrimage this year. From July 14 to July 25, four flights will operate from Srinagar Airport carrying 820 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia every day.

While reviewing the arrangements and facilities being provided to the aspirant Hajj pilgrims of the state, the Divisional Commissioner directed the PDD to install generator sets to supplement the uninterrupted power supply to the Hajj house Bemina.

He directed the concerned officers to put all arrangements with regard to maintaining regular supply of drinking water, sanitation besides establishment of medical camp in Hajj House Srinagar and airport 24×7. Furthermore, SRTC will provide adequate number of buses for transporting the pilgrims.

He directed R&B engineers for immediate macadamization of link roads leading to Hajj House within a week. He also said that fire Tenders will be deployed at Hajj House and Airport.

The Div Com directed police to ensure proper security arrangements in Hajj House, Bemina, and Airport and issue security passes before July 14 to the concerned officials. He also directed deployment of 100 Home Guard personnel in the Hajj House for the facilitation of the pilgrims.

It was further informed that J&K Bank Limited and Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank will install Currency Exchange Counter at the Airport and Hajj House Bemina.

He asked DDC Budgam to visit the airport premises for the finalization of necessary arrangements and deployment of magistracy en-route to the Airport.

Khan directed all officials to gear up and finalize all the arrangements well in time besides all DDCs will hold a meeting in their respective districts to ensure hassle free arrangements for Hajj-2018.

The meeting was attended by IG Traffic Kashmir Basant Rath, Chief Engineer PHE, Director Airport Authority of India, SSP Anti-Hijacking, GM JKSRTC, Director Floriculture, GM JK Bank, Joint Commissioner SMC, Deputy Director Tourism, Deputy Director Health Services, Executive Engineers of PHE and R&B, SMC, Executive Officer State Hajj Committee, Police Officers and other concerned officials were present in this meeting whereas all District Development Commissioners of Kashmir Division including Leh and Kargil participated the meeting through video conferencing.
