Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024 concludes with celebration of talent and empowerment

Srinagar: The Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024, organized by 31 Sub Area under the aegis of Chinar Corps, concluded on a high note today at the iconic Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.

The event, which has become a symbol of empowerment and sporting excellence in the region, was graced by several dignitaries, including the Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir, Tashi Rabstan, who served as the Chief Guest.

Also in attendance were the DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, RR Swain, who was the Guest of Honour, and the GOC of 31 Sub Area, who hosted the event. Adding to the excitement was the presence of Indian cricket star Yuzvendra Chahal as a special guest.

The 8-day tournament featured 12 teams from across Kashmir, with 160 talented women cricketers showcasing their skills on the field. The final match was an electrifying contest between the Anantnag Rebels and the Srinagar Knights, with the Anantnag Rebels emerging victorious as the champions of the Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024.

During the closing ceremony, Yuzvendra Chahal encouraged the women players to continue pursuing their passion for cricket and to strive for excellence. Prizes worth ₹1,00,000 were distributed among the teams and players in recognition of their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

In his address, Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan praised the enthusiasm and talent displayed by the young women, stating, “The enthusiasm and talent displayed by these young women are truly inspiring. This league not only promotes sports but also empowers the women of Kashmir.” Echoing this sentiment, DGP Shri RR Swain remarked, “The Kashmir Women Cricket League is a testament to the spirit and resilience of Kashmiri women. It is heartening to see such dedication and skill on the field.”

GOC 31 Sub Area emphasized the broader significance of the event, saying, “The Army is committed to fostering positive change and empowerment in the region. This league is a step towards providing a platform for women to shine and achieve their dreams.”

The Kashmir Women Cricket League 2024 has set a new benchmark for women’s cricket in the region, fostering a spirit of competition and sportsmanship among the young women of Kashmir. The Army, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ujala Cygnus chain of Hospitals, and Hope Alive NGO, remains dedicated to promoting women empowerment and driving positive change in Kashmiri society.
