Srinagar, June 18: Army and militants on Monday evening exchanged a brief gunfire in Dedikote forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A police officer told GNS that militants attacked army’s patrolling party of 4 VIKAS, sub-unit of 47 RR in Dedikote forest area in Vilgam today evening.

The army retaliated the fire, triggering of a brief exchange of gunfire, he said.

Following the incident, additional reinforcement was rushed to the site, he said, adding that a massive search operation is underway to trace out the group of militants.  (GNS)
