SSA Teachers Stage Sit-In At Pratap Park On Eid Day To Press For Demands

Srinagar: Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers today on eid day staged a sit-in at Pratap Park in Srinagar to press for their pending demands.

Reports reaching here said that hundreds of the aggrieved SSA teachers are demanding the release of their pending salary as per 7th pay commission and delinking of their salary from MHRD budget.

“We are demanding implementation of 7th pay commission. We have been given every benefit since our engagement in the department and now how can the government deny benefits of 7th pay commission,” the SSA teachers said.

The protesting SSA teachers also held funeral prayers in absentia for slain journalist Shujaat Bukhari at Pratap Park.

“Shujaat sahab was the voice for voiceless and used to speak on behalf of our teaching community,” the teachers said.  (GNS)
