Srinagar, May 03: Police in Srinagar have busted a “notorious” gang of robbers by arresting three accused persons and recovered stolen items from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Friday.

He said on April 29, Police Station Shalteng received a written complaint from a trucker Hakam Khan, son of Anwar Khan from Rajasthan, stating that during the preceding night, at around 2:30 am, his truck (RJ19GJ–3179) was stooped forcibly by a group of men at Maloora, who besides thrashing him also decamped with cash of ₹15,000, two cell phones, including truck cleaner’s cell phone, a gas cylinder, two watches and the truck’s music system.

A case under relevant sections of law was registered, and during investigations police raided various locations in Srinagar and with the help of technical data analysis, zeroed in on three accused persons — Mohammad Amir Keenu, son of Mushtaq Ahmed, resident of Palpora, at present Puran Teng Maloora; Adnan Ahmed Shah, son of Mohammad Aslam Shah of Kanipora Nowgam, at present Padshahi Bagh; and Imran Ahmed Shah, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Kanipora Nowgam – who were arrested.

During the investigation, it came to light that these criminals operated a well-organized gang with a modus operandi of targeting vehicles plying on the National Highway through Srinagar.
