The protesting teachers urged upon the government to release their pending salaries. “It is very unfortunate that SSA teachers who should be teaching in schools have to come on roads for demanding their salaries,” said a teacher Khalid Bashir.

Mohd Farooq Itoo, District President Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the SSA teachers who were engaged in year 2000 through SSA scheme received salaries equivalent to other teachers, besides 6th pay commission too but now when the 7th pay commission has been released, the government denies to release it for SSA teachers.

“It is very painful to see all these SSA teachers being humiliated by government,” he added.

Farooq further added that if the government will continue to remain indifferent towards the demand of SSA teachers, we will intensify our protests after Eid. “We are going to organize a massive protest in Srinagar on Eid eve.”
