15 drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla, Kulgam

Srinagar: Police have booked 15 “notorious” drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and Kulgam, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.

He said in Baramulla, the drug smugglers Bashrat Ahmad Raina, son of Abdul Lateef of Salamabad Uri; Changez Khan, son of Muneer Hussain of Bandi Uri; Manzoor Ahmad Lone alias Munna, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Lachipora Bijhama; Nazar Din Bhatti, son of Karam Din of Madiyan Kamalkote; Syed Mehtab Hussain, son of Syed Azad Hussain of Paranpeelan Uri; Imran Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Zaman of Noorkhah; Ashiq Hussain Parray alias Elahi, son of Abdul Razak of Lawaypora HMT; Altaf Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Malpora Sopore; Amir Subhan Malla, son of Mohammad Subhan of Watergam Wagoora; and Sahil Ahmad Reshi, son of Abdul Samad of Chanpora Kunzer, have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

Similarly in Kulgam, the smugglers Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh alias Ramm Sheikh, son of Jamal Sheikh of Wanpora Khudwani; Arif Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Hamid Bhat of Brazloo Jageer; Firdous Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh of Manchewa Yaripora; Shahid Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Brazloo Jageer, and Hilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar of Malwan Devsar, have also been booked under PIT-NDPS Act.

The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu.

Police said that many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and that they were involved in promoting “drug abuse trade” by supplying drugs to local youth of respective districts. Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse and trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
