In an exclusive interview with Kashmir News Trust, Bilqees expressed her passion for voluntary blood donation, attributing it to her deep-rooted belief in the sanctity of saving lives.

“Blood donation is not my profession,” Bilqees stated, highlighting her role as an Accredited Aasha worker. “But donating blood on a voluntary basis is my passion. Our religion teaches us that saving one life is equivalent to saving the entire universe.”

Reflecting on her initial inspiration, Bilqees recounted a pivotal moment when a relative urgently needed blood. “I volunteered and saved her life,” she said, underscoring her commitment to helping those in need. Since then, Bilqees has remained steadfast in her pledge to assist individuals requiring blood transfusions.

Over the years, Bilqees observed a transformation in the process of blood donation, particularly with the advent of the internet. “Now, people who need blood reach out to donors through social media within no time,” she explained, emphasizing the role of technology in facilitating lifesaving connections.

Despite her significant contributions, Bilqees expressed disappointment over the lack of recognition from the government. Calling for tangible support, she suggested schemes such as insurance coverage and ration cards to incentivize volunteer donors.

Regarding her dietary habits, Bilqees debunked the myth that blood donation leads to weakness, affirming her ability to maintain good health despite limited resources. “I donate blood every three months and have never felt any deficiency,” she asserted, dispelling misconceptions surrounding blood donation criteria.

With a determination to continue her altruistic endeavors, Bilqees aims to donate blood until she reaches the age of 65, attributing her ability to do so as a divine gift aligned with Allah’s will.

Bilqees’ remarkable story has garnered admiration from notable figures, including Dr. Tawseef and members of Care for Humanity Trust, who actively participated as blood donors. Their collective efforts serve as a testament to community engagement and solidarity in promoting the culture of blood donation.
