Baramulla: The “Save Youth Save Future” Foundation, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority Baramulla, organized a day-long seminar titled “Yakeen – Believe in Her” at Dak Banglow Baramulla on Thursday.

Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice N Kotiswar Singh was Chief Guest on the occasion.

Notably, there was a substantial participation of women representing various backgrounds, with a significant presence of women, echoing the collective commitment towards gender inclusivity and empowerment.

Commencing with a warm welcome by the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Baramulla, Mohammad Ashraf Malik, the event set a tone of inclusivity and reverence for the cause.

Advocate Neelofar Masood, the first Female Bar Association President of Baramulla, shared her invaluable perspectives on women’s empowerment, drawing from her illustrious professional journey.

Renowned Journalist and President of the Baramulla Working Journalists Association, Karamat Qayoom, elucidated on the transformative power of media in empowering women, weaving anecdotes from his journalistic endeavours.

Advocate Sibtain Geelani, through his impassioned discourse, shed light on the societal impediments hindering women’s progress, advocating for systemic change and societal introspection.

Bushra Bedaar, the Central Administrator of One Stop Centre Baramulla, delved into the harrowing realities of domestic violence, underscoring the imperative of concerted efforts to combat such atrocities against women.

The eminent Senior Advocate, G.N. Ahsan, captivated the audience with poignant poetry, encapsulating the resilience and fortitude of women amidst adversities, while also challenging societal norms perpetuating gender inequalities.

He said that crimes against women are a very sensitive and fragile issue that is very close to our hearts and society in its composite genesis needs to find the root causes of crimes against women and address the stereotypes existing in the society.

Advocate Insha Zargar, in her address, underscored the paradigm shift within the legal profession towards greater gender inclusivity, advocating for an equitable environment for women in law.

Minga Sherpa, the dynamic Deputy Commissioner of Baramulla, presented statistical insights highlighting the transformative potential of education in empowering women, while also accentuating the government’s initiatives towards gender parity.

A large number of people from a cross-section of society and various eminent personalities attended the program. They highly appreciated charitable work done by the society in shaping the lives of orphans, the poor and the needy.
