ABC&AVC Tengpora acknowledged as premier centre for population management of stray dogs

SRINAGAR: The Animal Birth Control and Anti-Rabies Vaccination Centre (ABC&AVC) at Tengpora, established by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), received high commendations from an inspection team led by Dr. S.K Dutta, Joint Commissioner (AH), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying/Secretary, Animal Welfare Board of India, Government of India.

During the inspection, the Municipal Veterinary Officer SMC presented a comprehensive overview of the Corporation’s proactive measures to tackle the issue of stray dogs within Srinagar city.

The presentation highlighted the strategies and dedicated efforts employed by SMC to address the challenges associated with stray dog population management within the city.

The inspection team, comprising experts in the fields of Animal Welfare and Animal Birth Control surgeries, acknowledged the ABC Center at Tengpora as a shining example of excellence in stray dog sterilisation and rabies immunization.

Dr. S.K Dutta, speaking on behalf of the inspection team, lauded SMC’s commitment to animal welfare and public health through the establishment of such a well-equipped and efficient facility.
