Srinagar: Dr Shabir Ahmad Parah, a Kashmir University (KU) faculty, has been granted a patent for his groundbreaking technology aimed at reducing night traffic accidents caused by traffic light glare.

The patent, awarded on February 9, 2023, with an effective date of February 22, 2021 (date of filing) under the Indian Patent Act, marks a significant milestone in the realm of traffic safety.

The invention is one of its kind in the world and is supposed to influence the motor landscape in and out of the country given the fact that more than 52% of traffic accidents occur at night.

“The University Innovation Centre would approach the relevant automobile manufacturing industrial sector for assessing the techno-economic feasibility of the said innovation for its uses in a wide variety of automobile units.

Dr Shabir Ahmad Parah, Sr. Assistant Professor at KU’s Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology led a four-member team consisting of Parsa Sarosh, Sabreena Mushtaq, and Sheezan Fayaz in developing this innovative solution.

In her message, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, extended her heartfelt congratulations to Dr Shabir Ahmad Parah and his team for this remarkable achievement.
