Seminar on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace” held at Shopian

SHOPIAN, JUNE 09: The District Administration Shopian today organised a daylong seminar on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace – Prevention Prohibition and Redressal” at Conference Hall Mini Secretariat in which large number of women employees of Social Welfare, Education, Health and other departments of Mini Secretariat participated.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian Parvaiz Sajad Ganaie was the chief guest on the occasion while as Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Jahangir Majid, and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The objective of the seminar was to make women employees aware of the provisions regarding the Act related to protection against Sexual Harassment of Women in the constitution of India.

On the occasion, speakers threw light on various aspects of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplaces in the present-day age. Speakers said that a safe workplace is every women’s right.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ganaie said that awareness regarding Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplaces has become a movement as seminars and awareness camps are being held across the state. He said that the district administration has already constituted a 7-member Complaint Committee under the supervision of ACR Majid Jahangir and said that such committees will be constituted at tehsil and block level also. He urged upon the women employees to feel free to complain before the Complaint Committee in case of any Sexual Harassment at Workplace.
