Acknowledging their crucial role as nation builders, the Labour Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the Government to protecting and safeguarding their interests and ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes reach every worker including their family members. “The Labour Department is meant to serve and empower you,” he said.

During the interaction, the Labour Commissioner enquired about problems, if any, being faced by them including availing benefits of welfare schemes like educational assistance for their children, healthcare etc. “Not just the schemes of the Labour Department, if you face any issues in availing benefits of schemes in other departments of the Government, our offices in the districts will help you in getting them”, he told workers.

The Labour Commissioner emphasized upon the Labourers, the significance of being aware of their rights and entitlements guaranteed under Labour Laws. He also invited the attention of workers towards registering on the e-shram Portal which will facilitate the Government to seamlessly deliver benefits under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Pension Scheme and other UT and Centrally Sponsored Schemes to the workers.

Workers were also informed about the 2- Day camps being organized on 2nd and 3rd February 2024 at every Tehsil Supply Office of the Food Department in the UT for providing Ration Cards to the left-out unorganized workers in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in this regard.

While expressing gratitude for the interaction, the workers appreciated the role of the Labour Department for their welfare and providing services through online mode which has made it easy for the stakeholders to avail various services.

The Labour Commissioner expressed optimism and assured workers that such interactions aimed at fostering a culture of awareness and cooperation between the labour force and the Department will continue in the right earnest.
