Accompanied by Principal & Dean GMC Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta, HoD Orthopaedics Dr Sanjeev Gupta, Medical Superintendents of Associated Hospitals, Heads of Departments, senior professors, doctors, and other stakeholders, he toured the 200-bedded health facility.

Secretary explored the entire hospital building, inspecting departments such as Out Patient Department, Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, oxygen plant site, CT Scan room, and patient wards to gain firsthand experience of the health and medical facilities provided.

Engaging with staff, doctors, paramedics, patients, and attendants, he inquired about infrastructure and other facility needs to enhance patient care.

Speaking to stakeholders, Dr Abid Rasheed emphasized the significance of health services in the government, expressing the administration’s commitment to people’s well-being. The purpose of the inspection was to address issues faced by doctors, paramedics, patients, and attendants and explore ways to enhance facilities, he added.

“Our goal is to ensure the best patient care and well-being. Providing state-of-the-art health facilities should be our primary focus and duty,” he stated.

Highlighting the importance of facilities like B&J Hospital, recently operationalized and dedicated to the public, he expressed hope that it would become a premier health institute not only in J&K but in the entire country.

Subsequently, he visited the State Cancer Institute Jammu, inspecting all blocks and sections while engaging with doctors, paramedics, and patients to understand the provided facilities.

At the 100-bedded SCI, advanced medical equipment, including PET Scan, Linear Accelerators with IMRT, IGRT, SRT facility, Brachytherapy Machine, and CT Simulator, is being installed for the benefit of cancer patients.

Dr Abid Rasheed stressed the institute’s aim to provide the best possible cancer treatment to the underprivileged. He interacted with medical professionals in OPD, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Palliative/Pain Clinic to gather inputs for optimal treatment.

Additionally, he visited the GMC Jammu hostel, assessing facilities for medical students and addressing their concerns.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Abid Rasheed held a meeting to review the functioning of Ayushman Bharat PAMJAY Sehat in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting covered scheme details, its current status in the Union Territory, implementation structure at State and district levels, and policy-wise premium payment to insurance companies.

In his address, Secretary H&ME emphasized the cardinal nature of AB PMJAY and urged officers to ensure its effective implementation, benefiting the entire population of J&K.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer State Health Agency, the Director of Finance, the State Nodal Officer, the State Grievance Nodal Officer, and others concerned.
