PC&PNDT District Advisory Committee meeting held at Srinagar

 SRINAGAR: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar, Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir Thursday chaired Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) District Advisory Committee meeting in the meeting hall of FW Department Old Secretariat, here.

All the District Advisory Committee members including Dy. Director Information & PR, Bilal Mukhtar; District Health Officer Srinagar, Consultant Gynecologist, Consultant Paediatrician of JLNM Hospital, Additional Professor Department of Advanced Centre for Human Genetics SKIMS Soura, representatives Of NGO’s viz. Kashmir Athrout, Help Foundation & Coordination committee attended the meeting.

At the outset, a PowerPoint Presentation was presented regarding the rules and regulations of the PC&PNDT Act. The members were sensitized about the PC&PNDT Act and the significance of the DAC Committee in the interest of administration and patient care.

The CMO emphasized that the committee has to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the PC&PNDT Act and the rules governing it so that all the USG Clinics (both Govt and Pvt) are being granted registration strictly in accordance with guidelines.

All the members put their suggestions, including outreach camps, seminars, and IEC activities regarding the proper implementation of the Act.

The chair informed the members that the department has constituted medical teams who are already in place and have been routinely inspecting the USG Clinics in the district of Srinagar and there is a significant role of all the members to further improve the process so that the USG Clinics are running strictly as per PC&PNDT Act At the end of the meeting, USG Clinics who had applied for registrations and were found eligible as per the guidelines besides checklist were scrutinized by DAC members for issuance of registration as per PC&PNDT act and this approved the eligible cases for granting registration in their favour.
