Baramulla: Baramulla’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure on Thursday cautioned the public against sharing any online content related to “terrorist and separatist propaganda”.

Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, SSP warned of strict legal measures against individuals found disseminating content “associated with terrorist organizations” on any social media platform.

Addressing the media here, Nagpure revealed that the police department has made preparations to crackdown on those utilizing digital devices or specialized media to circulate content “issued by terrorist or separatist groups”. The SSP said that law-enforcement agencies are fully equipped and committed to identifying and taking legal action against any individuals involved in such activities.

The SSP also urged the citizens, who come across messages or content related to terrorism and propaganda activities, to promptly report them to the authorities. The collaboration of the community, he stressed, is crucial in the fight against “online extremism”.

In a specific plea to the parents, the police official urged them to be vigilant and ensure that their children, especially teenagers, use social media responsibly.

Acknowledging the potential risks associated with online platforms, SSP underscored the need for parents to actively monitor their children’s online activities, preventing inadvertent associations with unlawful content.

The SSP’s warning comes as part of a broader effort by law enforcement agencies to curb the spread of extremist ideologies and propaganda through online channels.
