Three-day State Level Philatelic Exhibition “KASHPEX-2023” concludes at SKICC

Srinagar: KASHPEX 2023 with colourful and enlightening cultural performances and award distribution amongst the winners of various events of KASHPEX, concluded at SKICC here today.

The cultural event was marked by performances of Shafi Sopori, a renowned Sufi singer of Kashmir. Besides this mesmerizing musical performances and dance performances from artists depicting the rich culture and folk dances of Jammu and Kashmir, thrilled the audience.

A special cover on the Thiksey Monastery, Leh was released by Col Vinod Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle along with Prof (Dr). Ruby Zutshi, Principal, Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Kashmir. Prof. Iftikhar Jaffar, Sr. Instructor of Music and Fine Arts was also present on the occasion.

The KASHPEX 2023 was marked by the release of special covers on places of prominence and significant importance from Srinagar, Jammu and Leh.

 The quiz competition which was held on the 2nd day of the exhibition for students from 09 schools were awarded by the Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle. Moein-u-din-Naqash, Mohammad Said and Ajmal from Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute were awarded trophies for first position while Adeeba Bilal, Zainab Ruqaya and Muhammad Haziq Jan from St Paul’s International Academy and Hadiya binti Altaf, Ambreena Khursheed and Afreen Bhat from Caset Experimental School were awarded trophy for second and third position, respectively.

The winners of the Painting competition, held today were also awarded on the occasion. The students competed in two categories viz. Category I students from Class V to Class VII and Category II for students from Class VIII to Class X.

In respect of Category I, Areeba Masoodi from GD Goenka Public School was adjudged first while Safa Zeeshan from the same school finished second. Mutaharun Eshal from Birla Open Minds International School was adjudged third.

In Category II, Aleeza Gulzar from Birla Open Minds International School was adjudged first while Budeer Yousuf from Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute was adjudged second and Mehreen Iqbal from Legends School of Education was adjudged third.

A national-level jury comprising Sahadeva Sahoo, Shakil Ahmed and Kishor Chandak evaluated the exhibits on display in the exhibition and different medals and prizes were awarded to winners. A total of 17 medals which included 3 Vermeil, 4 Large Silver, 4 Silver Medals and 6 Bronze were awarded. Governor’s Trophy and CPMG Trophy were also awarded.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr. Ruby Zutshi appreciated the efforts of the Department of Posts in organizing KASHPEX-2023 for the awareness of the general public and school children in particular.

Col Vinod Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle while addressing the audience appreciated the efforts of the Department of Posts in organizing KASHPEX 2023 and expressed happiness on the overwhelming response received from all quarters of society, especially students.

Pertinently, the three-day KASHPEX 2023, i.e. State Level Philatelic Exhibition was inaugurated by Brig K Bhardwaj, Brig HQ 15 Corps along with Col Vinod Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, at SKICC on Tuesday. 

The event was also attended by Col Faraz, Col GS (IW), HQ 15 Corps and Shri Athar Aamir Khan, Commissioner SMC and CEO, Srinagar Smart City Limited.

In line with the said promotional endeavor, approximately 50,000 postage stamps and other philatelic items were on display during the exhibition.

The exhibition highlighted India’s history, culture, art and heritage over the years through stamps and pictorial collections. India Post-scented stamps were also on display besides some rare and old stamps dating back to the 1800s and 1900s.

The philatelic exhibition was open to the general public from 11 am to 4 pm on all three days.

Pankaj K Mishra, Director Postal Services J&K, Javaid Ahmad Haji, SSPOs Srinagar Division, Ankush Bhagat, SSPOs Jammu Division, Dr. P.P. Singh, Director of Accounts (Postal) and G.R. Bhat Senior Postmaster Srinagar Division also attended the three-day event.
