J&K CEO enlists ICONS and Social Media Influencers to boost voter enrollment

JAMMU: A conference of UT level and District Level ICONS and Social Media Influencers was held today under the Chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), J&K, Pandurang K. Pole.

The UT Level/District Level ICONS/Social Media Influencers coming from various fields of achievements like music, sports, singing, literature, Social Work and working for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) etc. participated in the conference in person as well as virtually.

The conference aimed to create awareness among the masses in connection with the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls especially those who are eligible for enrolment in the electoral rolls but not enrolled as voters yet.

The main thrust was given to target Young Voters, PwDs, Tribal, Slum Dwellers, Women, Weaker Sections and Old Age Voters to ensure registration electoral rolls and their participation in the elections.

A PowerPoint presentation was given at the conference highlighting the role of UT and district-level ICONS and Social Media Influencers in educating the masses by using their skills and experience. They possess ample ability to influence the masses about registration in the electoral rolls and participation in the elections.

The Chief Electoral Officer also gave some tips to the participants in making video/audio messages for the masses and publicity on the social platform. The messages should be completely neutral to achieve the target and not favour or disregard any Political Party or Individuals, he maintained.

The Conference among others was also attended by Nirupa Rai, Special Secretary, K.K.Sidha, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, Sandish Gupta Additional Secretary, Akhter Hussain Qazi, Nodal Officer SVEEP, Dr Vikas Sharma, Deputy Director PR Jammu, Information Department, Huma Khan, Under Secretary besides representatives from other departments and Deputy District Election Officers. Besides, prominent ICONS/Social media influencers included Faisal Ali Dar, Javaid Ahmed Tak, S. Chandeep Singh, Umran Malik, Sub. Chain Singh, Ankush Sabharwal, Sandhya Dhar, Parveen Sangral, Arnavi Sharma and Urvashi Sharma.

Lastly, the Chief Electoral Officer expressed gratitude to the conference participants and appealed to them to give wide publicity by using their platform so that “NO VOTER TO BE LEFT BEHIND”.
