Srinagar: Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of mobile phone thieves by arresting three of its members including the kingpin at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital in Srinagar.

The gang, comprising three active members, police said was stealing mobile phones of patients and their attendants at the hospital. Police have also recovered 11 stolen mobile phones of different brands and models from their possession.

The trio has been identified as Muneeb Jan, son of Manzoor Ahmad Shah; Mohiuddin Hakeem, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin; and Mohammad Irfan Pampori, son of Mohammad Sultan Pamopri, all residents of Safakadal Srinagar.

The accused, a police official said, have been lodged at Police Station Safakadal after a case was registered under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the trio.
