Srinagar/JAMMU: The authorities today said that this year so far 3,69,288 pilgrims have visited the cave shrine  while during the previous year some 3,65,721 pilgrims had visited during the entire duration of the Yatra.

The success of Amarnathi Yatra-2023 can be primarily attributed to the “impeccable arrangements” made by the administration. “Every facet of the Yatra, from the provision of Langar services to healthcare facilities, sanitation, transportation, and security measures, have been meticulously managed to ensure unparalleled convenience for the pilgrims. The seamless execution of these arrangements has led to a surge in the influx of devotees who are eager to embark on the spiritually enriching journey, and they have expressed their deep appreciation for the well-coordinated efforts,” an official press release said here.

It said the Yatra has also witnessed the arrival of “distinguished personalities” from various walks of life — renowned badminton player Saina Nehwal, and Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan.

“This diverse gathering serves as a testament to the universal appeal of the Amarnath Yatra, attracting individuals from all corners of the globe, united in their reverence for this sacred pilgrimage,” the release said.

It said the Yatra-2023 has also witnessed a significant increase in the number of foreign pilgrims visiting the shrine. The pilgrimage’s allure extends beyond national boundaries, drawing people from all over the world to partake in this spiritually enriching experience.

“The pilgrims have wholeheartedly lauded the administration’s tireless efforts in ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey. The efficient organization of the Yatra has provided them with a sense of comfort and security, fostering an environment of gratitude and admiration,” the release said.

It said the Amarnath Yatra-2023 has not only surpassed the previous year’s numbers but has also touched the hearts of countless devotees, leaving an indelible impression of unity, spirituality, and appreciation for the administration’s meticulous efforts. “The Yatra remains a cherished experience for all pilgrims and continues to inspire a sense of reverence and devotion in the hearts of those who undertake this sacred expedition.”

Meanwhile, the 24th batch of Amarnath pilgrims with over 3,100 pilgrims left the base camp here on Thursday for the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, officials said.

Over 3.5 lakh pilgrims have so far paid obeisance at the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine since the commencement of the pilgrimage from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag and Baltal in Ganderbal districts on July 1.

A total of 3,111 pilgrims including 2,303 men, 750 women, 47 seers and 11 children left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here in a convoy of 124 vehicles amid heavy security of the Central Reserve Police Force on Thursday morning, the officials said.

They added that 957 pilgrims heading for Baltal were the first to leave the Bhagwati Nagar camp in 41 vehicles followed by the second convoy of 83 vehicles carrying 2,154 pilgrims for Pahalgam.

Over 1.33 lakh pilgrims have left the Bhagwati Nagar camp for the Valley since June 29, the day the first batch of pilgrims was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
